Genius

I finally figured out what she's saying in this pic! (This is for you Ty and Trav)
"Yo! Ding-dong! Ding-dong yo!"

Sometimes I throw money away and have to dig through the outside garbage until I find it.
Other times I think I throw money away and I dig through the outside garbage. Then, I remember it's in my purse.
There's my kind of genius. Then there's Avery's kind of genius...

She totally wrote a word in cursive on the white board!! I watched her concentrate and carefully make those marks. Oh yes, there's a true genius in the house.

p.s. I cannot figure out what she was trying to tell me as I took pictures. After each initial flash she kept saying something with those angry-ish eyes. It may be even more fun once this genius starts speaking English =)

Water Baby

I do believe that I have some photos of Tate just younger than Avery is here also playing with a hose. I like these water shots. Avery is a great mimicker. I water plants. She waters plants. I wear make-up. She wears make-up (even using my blush brush to spruce up her toes!). I scrub the counter. She scrubs the counter. You get the picture =)

Conversation with a 3 year old

Cousin Luke turned 3 last week. I had to share this little dead serious conversation we had.

Me: "Luke, you are totally photogenic." (As we were looking at some pictures mom had taken.)

Luke: "I'm not genic! I'm Luke."

I've had several conversations with Tate along that same pattern. These little tykes are very literal =) It's true, though, the kid can't take a bad picture.

I also enjoyed Luke talking up his party: "It's gonna be huge!"

Avery's Photo Shoot

I'm sitting here at ma's house and it's actually quiet at quiet time!! So, I'm posting these pictures from mom's computer so I can have these pics of sweet little squishy Avery =0) She'll be 2 years old in a month and is one sweet little spunky gal who enjoys the word "no", dancing, animals-especially dogs, acting like a dog, playing with her brother, making funny "scary" faces which I'm hoping to catch on camera, swinging, and cuddling. She really makes me laugh and is usually very happy. I think she's average size on the comparison charts, but she seems like a little pixie to me. She enjoys wearing hats and sunglass=)

Image

This first picture is in case I ever forget how my children love to hide in the curtains and I am forever telling them not to touch them!

I was trying to get a good shot of Avery's shirt I found at a consignment store, but this girl never stops moving, so this is the best I got. Anyway, the reason for the shirt is that when our babies are little, Eric often holds them and while singing, "For those about to rock, we salute you!" while moving the baby's arms and hands to salute and point. You can't tell, but the shirt says that quote beneath the ACDC letters.
My camera was on a funny setting which made much of these blurry. I didn't realize until after these shots. But I still want to post them because I love the interaction shown between these two cuckoos! They do a high-pitched highly-annoying sound back and forth, or at the same time, and then they laugh and laugh about it.

Also, doesn't Avery's tutu rock? Thank you Jamom! Actually, it was intended for one of Avery's cousins, but came much too small, so we got it =)
I recently went shopping to find Avery some tennis shoes. I almost gave in and bought the more spendy velcro shoes (even thought they were on sale ) that I found after looking at several stores, but I said to myself to hold out for what I wanted at a good price. The right priced velcro tennies showed up at the very next store, teaching me not to settle =) That's what this last picture is showing off.

On an unrelated note, this is what I overheard Tate tell Avery a couple days ago, "Let's play 'break it'!"

Ummm, what?!!

Summer of Paint

Here's the latest paint project:

They were the easiest paint project to date, but the result isn't my favorite. I would have liked darker distressing on the legs, and cream instead of green, so they contrast the walls. I also learned that stain should be wiped off. It's too late for the underside of these stools, so they are sticky. I'm learning, though, and am happy enough with these to live with. As usual, I forgot to take a before picture. They were a lighter stained wood all over.

For the Kids

I was very happy this weekend when something I was excited about was equally enjoyed by the Hibbert cousins this Labor Day weekend. Using the last picture found on-line for inspiration, we decorated angry bird cupcakes! Here are the masterpieces...

I wish I had my camera for...

...when Avery was crying from her room this morning because she was stuck in a basket she pulled out of her closet.

....this weekend when Avery was pretending to drive the big 4-wheeler on the mountain.

...Monday when Tate grabbed Avery's hand and they walked together to the car to play because it's Tate's "boat". Both of them in their cute little jeans.

I suppose the mental pictures will have to do =)

More "isms"

Today Tate requested a pancake after I had made cupcakes. I said, "Yes, but it's a cupcake."
He pointed at his cup and said, "This is a cup. This (pointing at the cupcake) is a pancake."

If you have not taught a young one how to play hide and seek. You really should. It is HIGHLY entertaining. Tate would count to 6 really fast. That's better than his original counting to only 3. Then, despite my example of loudly enunciating "Ready or not, here I come!" on my turn, he says, "I got 6!" just before running to find me. The problem here is that I only have time to sprint behind a door or behind a couch and would make it, except for Avery is too darn slow. She follows me and gives me away everytime. But, oh, how she loves it!! Then, Tate just gets mad at me for not hiding where he told me to =)
