Hair Care

I know everybody has been wondering: "What would Tate look like with mousse?" So, after he threw his broccoli at me and got it all over the floor that I just cleaned. I figured I would mousse up that hair and have a good laugh because I needed it!! Here's the result.

Actually, it's not as funny as I hoped. I wanted a mohawk or something. But it's just like a little perm. Oh well.

Tate's First Birthday Party

Saturday morning I gave Tate his first taste of good ol' "kid tested mother approved" cereal. I was on the compy and when I looked back, he had given himself his first little birthday hat.

Gabby, Luna, and Jonas having a swell time, I think.

Jennifer gave Tate a totally sweet truck. He loves it. Can't you see the excitement in his face?! By the way, he had on a cute birthday outfit that even had little cars on it to match the theme. It just didn't last.

Saturday was Eric's 26th b-day, so it was a double party. Tate licked the frosting and dropped the cupcake on the floor. Thinking it may have been an accident, we gave it back and even put it in pieces for him. But, he just put each piece on the floor. It was fun and our apartment was packed, which doesn't take much =) Thanks to all who came!!!

Wierd? Or no Wierd?

Eric says that what I did this week was wierd and I need some reassurance. (By the way, I'm a very sensitive hormonal woman most likely due to weaning my child!) I wanted to get rid of our Scrubs season 5 DVD's and I found a woman on Craig's List looking for them. I contacted her and asked for Toblerone chocolate instead of money. We e-mailed back and forth because she didn't know what that was and wanted to know the condition of the DVD's, etc. This isn't the wierd part, but it's a little crazy. It turns out that she lives one street over from us! What a small world. Anway, she brought over the goods and the exchange was being made. She brought a few candybars so I told her to keep one since she hasn't tried it and it's so delicious. Then, I babbled about how I asked for chocolate because if I got money I would have to spend it on something boring like groceries. I was not explaining myself well. I meant to include that the calories are acceptable when it's like a gift, and not a self-made-purchase. Eric witnessed the scene and was laughing at me. When it was all over I felt a bit silly! At least I have chocolate! Anyway, my dreamland of chocolate as a means of exchange was great in my head, but maybe too cooky for the mass population. The lady was nice, but I really think I came across as a wacko. If you're reading this, please tell me I'm not crazy. But you can only tell me that if you really mean it!

And, here's the aftermath of our play date today. It was fun to watch four little monsters, er, I mean, cute boys running a muck!

RODEO!!!

Tate and I made a short day-trip yesterday for his first rodeo experience. He enjoyed lunch and made friends with baby Miranda by trying to sit on her. She's Vicky Leonord's 4 month old daughter that Carly is babysitting. I hope they don't mind me posting her picture!

Then, we went into the stadium and he screamed during the National Anthem. I was hoping patriotism would come more naturally, but it looks like we'll have to teach him that. Can you see the single tear left over from that episode?

He actually only lasted about 10 minutes and we went home for naptime. We later returned to the park to check out the shops. Not pictured: Tate enjoyed one of the best parts of Round-Up...elephant ears! And Melissa, this last picture is for you. You no longer have to feel bad about your own photography skills. Mine are so lacking! We wanted a shot of him with the cows, but I was too lazy to walk the stroller over the pebbles (they're so pebbley!) to get him closer. So, look in the background at the cows. And to my siblings, you can see some of dad's rodeo get-up. I don't know about you guys, but I've always enjoyed how he turns into a cowboy for one week out of each year.

P.S. Alison, if you read this I have to apologize for not giving you a call. I was thinking of you, but had to head home for mutual. So, it really was a quick trip, but I hope you and your family enjoyed the rodeo!

not much going on

I've been house-hunting this week. It's the pits and I'll tell you why. We could totally afford a home if it weren't for the taxes!!! So, you let me know if you know a legal way around taxes =) That shouldn't be hard. I'm waiting.

I know this isn't much of a post. I really just wanted to get on and change the backdrop. I'm lovin' the firetruck and polka dots!

Here's a taste of our Labor Day weekend! Thanks Debbie and Ritchie for letting us crash your pad and most especially for letting our loudmouth sleep oh-so-close to your bedroom! Maybe someday he won't be so noisy =)

p.s. If you want to see any of the little pics better, you can pause the show and click to enlarge them.
