Pretzels at Grandmas

I like this shot that mom took. Tv and a pretzel on a summer day. The life of a 1 yr. old is grand.

Farmer's Market

Last week Avery, Tate, and I went to the Kennewick farmer's market. We bought some strawberries, onions, and then had to check out the new bakery stand on our way out. We purchased some discounted chocolates and Tate promptly dropped them on the gravel. I didn't notice because I was busy paying for them and handing Avery strawberries to keep her happy (she was tired and fussy).

So, when I turn around I see Tate putting his face to the rocks and licking the chocolate off them! Passers-by are giving sad faces and "awwws" to the sad pathetic child who has to eat his treats off the ground. I rush us to the car, but not very fast because I have the awkward double stroller on a gravel road. Then, I realize that Avery has been eating the strawberries whole, stem and all. The green part must be healthy, right?

Kitchen Time

Here's my first shot at painting our kitchen chairs and table. The table is my favorite. I learned that for the light glazed look I like, use a wet rag to wipe off most of the glaze instead of a dry paper towel. I also learned that oil-based paint is a pain to clean. Don't get it on your favorite leather couch. And then, don't use paint thinner to remove it from your favorite leather couch. Unless you wanted a reminder of your first furniture-painting efforts. Lucky for me, I wanted that reminder.
I never should have let Avery witness Tate's disections of his daily peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Or grandma-great, for that matter. Both ladies have taken a liking to that method, but unfortunately I don't have a picture of grandma-great's eating one this way.

This sandwich never stood a chance. Nor does my table, I'm afraid =(
Here's a close-up of our front yard weeds. They popped up all over the place among our rocks and I like them. Eric says they're weeds and pulls some up here and there, but I enjoy them. Yea for pretty weeds =)

Bowling

Bowling with a little one includes looooooooooots of waiting for the ball to even reach the pins.
So as I watched Eric help Tate,
I was struck yet again by how similar these two are.
They even had the same shoes on! Hardy-har har.

Yesterday Tate and I were eating some of my left over birthday cake outside. Tate sat with his legs outstretched and his bare feet intertwined and it was spooking me out how even that position was like Eric!

Chica-Lica

It's not everyone that can pull off a strawberry hat like this and striped leggings!
Or a zebra print dress with biker boots and a giant bow for that matter!

It must be a one-year old thing =)

Preschool

It was brought to my attention last week that Tate has not one more year until Kindergarten, but 2 more years. The cut-off is September, and his birthday is October 2nd, so it makes sense. Anyway, we just finished his first little preschool co-op and apparently gets two more years of it until the big-times. He will be such an educated kinderkid =) I had a lot of fun with our group and this is a shot of the five great little boys (Brandon, Preston, Tate, Teagan, and Carter).

Sneaky McSneakers

About a month ago, I found this little oddity outside Tate's room during quiet time.
More evidence was found on the bed.

About a week ago, I came out of the shower to see the utensil drawer suspiciously left open and an ice-cream lid on top of the garbage. I knew that Butterfinger ice-cream was nowhere near emptied out. Expecting to see Tate chowing down when I entered the man-cave, I was surprised to see little Avery seated on the floor with a gallon of ice-cream between her legs and enjoying spoonfuls of the stuff.

Sometimes Tate tells me to go take a shower. (Even though it's the middle of the afternoon and I've long since showered for the day.) Oh the fun little schemes of a 3 year old.
