Ralphie was induced 2 weeks prior to his due date because of valementous cord insertion. It means that part of the umbilical cord wasn't protected by Wharton's jelly and hence vulnerable to rupture. Anyway, everything went smoothly, and I had my first epidural, which really had me wondering why I never did one before. It was amazing and I highly recommend it. My wonderful friend, Becca Bauer was there to take some beautiful pictures, which I also recommend, both her and taking labor and birth pictures. Those photos are in a pretty book and I'll post them here if I ever get around to it. My purpose today is to load all my pictures onto the blog and delete them off my phone. I know they're in the icloud, but I still worry that they'll get lost in that invisible cloud!
The nurses told me that Ralphie descended quickly during birth, which caused the deep bruising over his entire face. It took several days for that to go away. It looks a little frightening in the photos, but at least he was well! He also spent his first couple days on the light because of jaundice.
We love this little boy so much! He is such a well tempered baby. He eats good, and spits up a ton, which is funny and my friends all tease us with saying "Ralphie ralphed again!". He is super smiley and loved by his siblings a ton!
